The Internet is the West’s Shadow

The internet is the west’s shadow.

We’ve been feeding it our deepest, darkest desires

For decades now

What did we think was going to happen?

The worst of us

Keeps seeping out of the web’s darkest corners

And creating chaos.

Who really believes

That the blockchain will save us?

I miss the cats.

Let me dig a hole

And bury my phone

Return those rare earth minerals

To the ground

But how will I ever get home from here?

Ask someone directions?

Ha!

No thanks.

We’ve ensnared ourselves

In resilient shadow

Apparently we must sit with it

Or maybe wait

Till a gray, overcast day

And birth something anew

Among the fog

And the rain

And the gloom

Is that

Where our future can be found?

The brightest, sunniest days

Bring the harshest shadows

After all.

Maybe we meet

In the middle

In the rain.
